After searching for wedding photographers and marveling at the creativity of those wedding images, I became highly interested in the art. Through study and practice I began to develope an eye for photography. With the birth of my children I became even more interested in portrait photography. I loved creating beautiful images of my sons. Soon I had friends asking me to take their family pictures. I began to invest more of my time into learning how to create not only meaningful images, but to work on my fundamentals and the technical aspects of the art.
As my second son approached two we began noticing that some things were not right with him. He was missing some very important milestones, and it was becoming more difficult to care for him. In 2007 after moving to Cypress TX, he was diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum, accompanied by a long list of other things.Photography became an outlet for me. Expressing my self creatively helped me to have the energy to deal with the difficulties that having a young autistic son presented. As my son has gotten older, photography has become something not only therapeutic for me but also for him as well. Aware of the balance that photography brought to my life I soon opened my own photography studio.
As a mother of a special needs child, I am aware of the extra care needed when photographing these precious kiddos. It is different with every child. I have learned to look for that particular thing that excites the child, so that I can build trust. I also know that what we see when we look into our special kids eyes. We see right past the hardships, through the difficulties, and there is our prescious little one, who has gifts and a spirt that few posses. Parents of special needs kids often put off getting portraits made because of the difficulty involved. It is my unique position to make this time less stressful for both you and your child, while giving you art that speaks to just how special your child is.
